Nauset beats Sandwich behind Gerritt Merrill's 11 strikeouts, 7-1
A superb effort by Gerritt Merrill hoisted Nauset to a 7-1 win in seven innings over Sandwich HS on Tuesday at Sandwich High School.
Merrill got the win for the Warriors thanks to 11 strikeouts. Merrill allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk over seven innings.
Everything was working at the plate for the Nauset in the seventh. Sandwich HS had no answer as NRHS scored five runs. Nauset scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Ronan Chisholm, a two-run double by Willy Boyd, a groundout by Sam Majewski, and an RBI double by Merrill.
Nauset Regional Warriors Varsity never trailed after scoring one run in the fourth on an RBI single by Sam Majewski.
ACL Showdown is Friday 5/22 at 6:30 at Eldredge Field against Falmouth who defeated Nauset in their last meeting 2-0.
