The Nauset Boys Swim Team swam extremely well in their first dual meet of the year but were simply outnumbered by a larger Sandwich High School Team.
The Warriors were led by Junior Captain Coleman Norton who qualified for the Central/South Sectional Championships in the 100 Free (52.40) and the Division II State Championships in the 50 Free (23.49). Norton's time in the 50 free moves him into the top 5 in Nauset history.
Not to be outdone Junior Carlisle Nash also was victorious in two events. Nash achieved best times in both the 200 Free (2:05.04) and 500 Free (5:35.32).
Nash, Dory Carlson, Tanner Cornell and Norton also combined to win and qualify for states in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:51.60. Ryan Pisch joined Tanner, Carlisle and Coleman to win the 200 Free Relay just barely missing the Sectional and State Qualifying times.
Tanner Cornell ran into Sandwich's two best swimmers but turned in a personal best time of 2:22.63 while placing second and also placed second in the 100 Butterfly (1:06.11). Newcomer Ryan Pisch placed second in the 50 Free and 100 Backstroke. Freshman Dory Carlson placed third in the 100 Butterfly and second in the 100 Breaststroke.
Junior Hunter MacDonald and Sophomore Brendan Hamaty also turned in personal best times in their individual events.
Nauset has some time to train over the holidays and their next meet will come when they host Barnstable on January 5.
