Nauset opened their season with double-wins for both the boys and girls. Competing under cool and windy conditions, they used a combination of seasoned veterans and talented newcomers to post convincing victories over Barnstable and Sturgis. The girls were led by double-winners Keimashay Blake (100M-200M) and Kara Moore (400M – High Jump). Moore also added a second place finish in the 200M behind Blake to lead all scorers in the meet.

 

Senior captain Alena O’Connor and freshman Sophie Christopher each placed in three events. O’Connor won the triple jump, placed 2ndin the 100M and ran on the winning 4X100M relay. Taylor Fleming, Polly Watson and Hannah Gale joined with O’Connor to beat both Barnstable and Sturgis in a time of 56.4. Watson added a win in long jump vs. Sturgis. 

 

Freshman Christopher won the 400M hurdles in her first time competing in the event. She also placed 2nd in the 100M Hurdles and added a third place finish against Sturgis in the high jump.

 

Twenty-three girls figured in the scoring. Other winners for Nauset included Izzy Nobili (800M), Hannah Gale (100M Hurdles), Rachel Pranga (Mile), Tara Ellard (2 Mile), Mackenzie Edwards (high jump), and Amy Poyant (javelin). Ellard, Pranga, and Nobili also joined with Lillian Manganaro to win the 4X400M relay in a time of 4:38. 

 

Senior Captains Dyllon McNeill and Owen Wilcox, and junior Will Van Vleck were multiple winners for the boys. Van Vleck posted victories in the 110M hurdles, shot put and discus while placing 2nd in the 400M hurdles against Barnstable. Against Sturgis he won all four events. Owen Wilcox was a winner in the long jump against both teams and added a first in triple jump against Barnstable and first against Sturgis in the 400M. 

 

Nauset won all three distance events with Jacob Pearl (800M), Brian Brooks (mile) and Jake Whitfield (2 mile). Those three joined with Nolan Ellard (2nd 800) to win the 4X400M vs. Sturgis.

 

Nauset’s other open-event winner was freshman Lucien Seiser who had fallen in the 400M hurdles earlier in the meet but bounced back to set a personal best in high jump. 

 

Nauset won the 4X100M relay against Sturgis with a team of Shavar Champagne, Tyreese Ferguson, Tim Paleiro and Wilcox. 

 

The next meet for Nauset will be Marshfield on Tuesday April 10th.
