Nauset Boys XC did an outstanding job in the ACL Championship meet last weekend placing 2nd behind Marshfield in the varsity race, all seven varsity racers running their best times of the season, three of them medaling.
Brian Brooks ran the smartest race of his career and as a result won the race ten seconds ahead of the next competitor, setting a PR of 15:38 and becoming the ACL Boys XC Champion. Not far behind was Jake Pearl, PRing by six seconds (16:08) and finishing 5th. Freshman Finn Riley impressed everyone by finishing 12th, medaling and improving his time by 32 seconds (17:55). Sophomore Aidan Dill also PRed by 21seconds (18:24) and missed medaling by lessthan a second. First year runner Tabin Brown ran an incredible race coming in 20th and improving his time by 62 seconds (18:36).
Max Christopher (19:21 and Tyler Hutchingson (19:28) came in 26th and 27th to finish it up for the Nauset team with Max improving by 14 seconds and Tyler by 32 seconds. Most impressive was that Tabin and Tyler had not expected to run the varsity race two days earlier, but due to team illness and injury they faced the challenge to race and made all the difference in the teams success.
The Junior Varsity race was also dominated by Marshfield but Nauset ran well with five personal bests and a third place finish overall. Christian Augut finished 13th (19:53) improving by 9 seconds. Kieran Norton finished 22nd (20:29) with a better time by 1 minute and 23 seconds! right behind him was Jake Pooler at 26th (20:48). AT 32nd, Brendan Hamaty ran a very strong race, improving by 33 seconds (21:15. Spencer Granlund (38th), and Logan Bentz (40th) also improved their times while Noah Smith (41st), Christian Beer (42nd), Ben Ellis (44th) and Zach Roth (45th) finished in a close pack to represent Nauset well.
Matt DaDoly ran for Nauset in the freshman race and medaled by finishing 7th with a time of 13:57 for the 2.1 mile course.
The boys XC team collectively ran very well and should be proud of their accomplishments at the ACL Championship races!
