Nauset girls place 7th overall at the Eastern MA State Sectionals- Franklin Park!
(last yr we placed 21) approx 30 teams and 171 finishers this year.
1. Bishop Feehan 2. Pembroke 3. Marblehead 4. Hopkinton 5. Milton 6. DY
7. Nauset
Robyn Argo placed #17 and earned her spot to the all-state meet next week in Gardner. Robyn ran smart and hung with the top 20 group from the start, she ran a solid race and never dropped position. Congrats to Robyn for reaching her longtime career goal!!!
Sarah Knop also ran extremely well. Approx :30 sec off Robyn's time, Sarah placed #28 and missed state qualification by approx 3 spots! The closest she's ever been!!! Sarah's hard work all season showed today, she looked strong and relaxed.
Freshman cinderella story girl Jenny Leyton also had a stellar day. Jenny placed #39 and used Sarah as her pacer. (as Jenny was only :22 sec back from Sarah) Jenny proved today that she will slide into Nauset's top spot next year. Jenny was the fastest freshman to represent the ACL league in todays competition. And like Robyn and Sarah- she also beat 6 out of 7 DY runners.
Marina Wells placed #74, while Haley Van Ness took #78. Both girls showing determination as they fought hard to represent Nauset and helped push us into the 7th overall position. (our goal had been top 10) only each teams top 5 can score.
Also running in todays meet were: Ally Kemp- #134, and Addie Boyd #149
both young women gave it their all and used the race as a preview of what they will be up against next year (as they should each move into the coveted top 5)
Overall- the Nauset girls ran hard. The course was quite challenging especially the steep hill called "bear cage hill". Good luck to Robyn in next weeks all-state meet- Gardner.
