The Nauset Girls XC team traveled to Sandwich to compete for the ACL title today but fell in a tight showdown. The final score 29-29 reflected 2 equally strong teams, but it was the Sandwich depth and home course advantage that prevailed on the day. The tie breaker was not in Nauset's favor as the Sandwich #6th runner placed well ahead of Nauset's #6th runner, giving Sandwich the League title. The 3.1 mile course was the most "technical", hilly and rocky course that Nauset has experienced so far this year. The Nauset girls will have another chance to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with as they prepare and strategize for the League Championship meet which will be held on the same course- Saturday October 29th.
Madaket Nobili (21:14) and Tara Ellard (21:16) continue to dominate at the top of the league individually as they placed 1st and 2nd respectively in todays meet. 3rd place overall went to Emma Eastman from Sandwich (21:29) while Emily Wall demonstrated true grit hanging on to the lead pack- placing 4th overall and just :4 sec behind Eastman. Sandwich took the next 5 spots ahead of Nausets Olivia Bois- 10th overall at 23:25. Joy Trudel rounded out the number 5 spot for Nauset posting 24:37.
Nauset will host Pope John for homecoming at the end of the week.
