The Nauset Girls XC team beat Canton in their home opener 16-39. Despite hot temps and high humidity the girls ran very well posting impressive times on the 3 mile course so early in the season. Leading the way was Sr. co-captain Abby Farrell winning the overall spot in 19:52. Nauset grabbed the next three spots- Shay Riske 2nd in 20:16, Ella Kelly 3rd in 20:23 and co-captain Izzy Nobili 4th in 20:40. Riske who is new to XC this year really turned heads as she was able to run with the lead pack throughout the race and then kick it in hard to finish in the #2 position. Makayla Hutchinson posted a 23:04 as she placed 6th overall while Rebekah Pranga, Lily Pooler, Maddie Kelly, Leah Hoopes and Katie Farrell placed 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th respectively. There were 20 runners in today's race. The team is currently without top runner and 2018 GXC MVP Rachel Pranga who is out with an injury. The team is hopeful she will be back soon.
