Nauset played Falmouth in their first appearance in the MIAA Tournament in over a decade. Nauset came out strong outplaying Falmouth a majority of the game but lost late in the 2nd half to a strong Falmouth offensive front.
Emma Shackelford scored Nauset's first goal in the first half on a indirect kick from 30 yards out. It was a beautiful shot that slipped through the goalie's hands and bounced into the goal, shocking Falmouth. Falmouth countered quickly and tied things up i1-1 to end the first half
Nauset came out to win in the second half with a beautiful shot from Marielle McEnaney. Julia Taylor fed Marielle a ball down the left sideline which Marielle captured and outmaneuvered two defenders to place a rocket of a shot into the far right corner. Nauset was in the lead 2-1.
Unfortunately, 2 back to back goals by Falmouth in the last 15 minutes changed the game and sent Nauset home with a loss. Much contraversary surrounded the last 10 seconds of the game as Nauset was in the goal box when Emily McGrath passed a ball infront of the goal mouth to Caley Fry just as the refereee blew his whistle. Caley scored but the ref didn't allow it because by high school rules - he blew the whistle before Caley touched the ball, thus the game was officially over. A heartbreaking loss but a game the team should be proud of.
