Boys take 2nd Place at Cape Cod Classic.
Nauset's Boys team won 2 relays and 3 individual events out of the 12 total events but were unable to overcome a deeper Nantucket team finishing second with 84 points to Nantucket's 108. They were followed by Barnstable and Sandwich tied with 44 points, Martha's Vineyard with 29 and St. John Paull I with 8 points.
Jake Avery won both the 200 Freestyle in a time of 1:58.36 and the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:07.56. Both times were good enough to qualify for the South Sectional Championships. Jack Johnson added a win the 100 Backstroke in 57.84 and a 2nd place finish in the 200 Individual Medley in 2:06.78. Both times qualified Jack for the MIAA Division 2 State Championships.
Nauset also captured the 200 Freestyle Relay with Jack Johnson, Tanner Cornell, Jake Avery, and Kevin Johnson combining for a state qualifying time of 1:38.61. Jack, Jake, and Kevin joined Coleman Norton to win the 400 Freestyle Relay in a time of 3:36.19, qualifying for States in the process.
Oscar Spiegel, Coleman Norton, Bryan Gass, and Tanner Cornell placed 4th in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.85.
Kevin Johnson added a 3rd place finish in both the 50 Freestyle (24.51) and 500 Freestyle (5:59.71). Coleman Norton finished 5th in the 50 Freestyle (24.78) and 2nd in the 100 Freestyle (54.28). Tanner Cornell finished 6th in the 200 Freestyle in 2:10.51 and 5th in the 100 Butterfly. Bryan Gass was 4th in the 100 Butterfly (1:04.56) and Oscar Spiegel was 4th in the 100 Backstroke (1:06.07). Taigh Lawless and Hunter MacDonald both swam personal best times and added key legs on relays.
