The Lady Warriors opened their season as the first game of a double header with the boys to a packed Nauset gym. The game was a defensive battle for the first half, with Nauset leading only 8-6 at the end of the first quarter. The game stayed close through the second with a halftime score of 19-17, with 14 of Easthampton's 17 points coming from their senior center Elizabeth Whitney, who finished the game with 29 points. The game was close until the end, and despite some scoring opportunities and foul shot attempts down the stretch, Nauset was unable to pull out the win in the final seconds. Kristin Brown lead the Warriors with 12 points, and Carolyn Brooks (7 points) was a strong floor general while Jenny Letyon (9 points, 4 steals), Kayla Smith (8 points, 6 steals), Caitlin Schadt (7 rebounds) Kallie Hannon (6 rebounds) contributed good, hard play. The team should feel proud of itself, having coming very close beating a team they lost to by 18 points last year.
