MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL STRIPES TOURNAMENT: 46
The Warriors dominated Mashpee for four quarters to open the Holiday Stripes Tournament with their first victory this season! Nauset's pressure defense proved to be too much for Mashpee, and the Warriors were able to jump out to a commanding 45-23 halftime lead. Jenny Leyton led scorers with a season-high 15 points (7 steals and 5 assists), with additional scoring help from Kayla Smith (14 pts), Kristen Brown (14 pts, 8 steals, and 7 assists), Carolyn Brooks (10 pts, 9 rebounds, 9 assists), Brittany Silva (9 pts), and Carli Thomas (6 pts). Much praise goes to Sarah Wardlaw (10 rebounds), Caitlin Schadt (9 rebounds) and Brooks (9 rebounds), who grabbed close to thirty rebounds together and helped Nauset maintain control throughout the game. With this decisive win, the team is growing in its confidence and resolve.
Nauset advances to play in the Championship game of the Stripes Tournament to be held in Mashpee at 5 pm on Saturday, December 29.
