The Lady Warriors came up short again in their second meeting with the Barnstable Red Raiders at home on Tuesday night, losing 64-49. Although defensively, the team brought great intensity and execution at times, Nauset was unable to shut down Barnstable scorer, Molly Bent, who dominated the offensive end for the Raiders. Nauset cut Barnstable's lead to 7 at the end of the third quarter (48-41) but was unable to overcome the  deficit before Barnstable pulled away to the win. Captain Carolyn Brooks played one of her strongest games this winter and led the Warrior charge with a season-high 15 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Jenny Leyton (11 pts), Kristen Brown (9 pts, 5 rebounds), and Callie Schadt (8 pts, 5 assists). Nauset's offense was able to score more against Barnstable this time around and the team shot a commendable 83 percent from the free throw line. The Warriors fall to 1-7 on the season, but they are committed to working hard this week to get ready to host Marshfield on Friday.
