MONOMOY REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL: 21
The Nauset JV Girls basketball team played it's best game of the year topping the Monomoy Sharks by a score of 51-21. Once again, the Warriors' stifling half-court zone defense was the primary reason for their success. Constant pressure outside and solid spacing and rebounding by the Warriors' interior defense kept the Sharks' point total low and helped ignite the Nauset offense. The defensive presence and rebounding of forwards Katie Hannon and Hope Elliot along with center Maddie Roberts were pivotal.
Offensively, guards Savannah Thomas (22 points), Callie Schadt (11 points) and Sam Berry (10 points) paced the scoring. Most of these points came off of great outside guard pressure, excellent outlet passes and an impressive ability to run the fast break. Additionally, coming off of a perfect 7 for 7 the game before, the Warriors were a very solid 10-12 from the foul line again last night. The team is clicking top to bottom. The Warriors now stand at 3-1 for the season, and have actually eclipsed last year's win total four games into the season. The next game is scheduled for 5:00pm Tuesday, January 8th at home.
