The Nauset Warriors Girls JV Basketball team rallied from ten points down early in the fourth quarter only to come up short against Falmouth, 54-49. The loss snaps the Warriors four game winning streak and drops their record to 8-3. Nauset cut the lead to three with just 42 seconds remaining before Falmouth converted two key free throws to put the game out of reach. Both teams applied a combination of strong full court pressure and aggressive half court zone defenses. The Warriors rebounded well throughout the game but poor free throw shooting (9-19, 47%) proved to be the difference.
Leading the Warriors scoring was the starting guard combination of Sam Berry (12 points) and Savannah Thomas (10 points). Katie Hannon chipped in with nine points and was the team leader in rebounding with ten. Seven other Warriors scored as well providing much-needed balance against the tough Clippers defense. The Warriors had previously lost to Falmouth by 25 points, showing their season long improvement on both ends of the court. Nauset will host Plymouth-South in a rematch of an earlier win this Tuesday.
