The Nauset JV Girls Warriors improved their record to 10-4 with an exciting 45-38 win over Sandwich. In what turned out to be a hard-fought, at times back and forth battle, the Warriors finally took charge in the fourth quarter to earn the win. Nauset deployed an aggressive half court 2-1-2 zone defense to hold off Sandwich's high powered offense and worked hard at breaking their full court zone press.
Leading the Warriors in scoring was Savannah Thomas, who tallied 20 points. Rachel Lagasse (10 points) provided strong support, scoring 6 key points in the fourth quarter. Perhaps the top statistic of the night came from Maddie Roberts who had five blocked shots. She and Hope Elliot helped control the boards, particularly in the final frame. Nauset will seek its eleventh win of the year tomorrow against Plymouth North. The Warriors edged Plymouth North by two points in their previous meeting.
