Gerritt Merrill went 2-4, but Nauset still fell to Dennis-Yarmouth 7-6 in seven innings on Wednesday at D-Y High School.

Gallant got the win for Dennis-Yarmouth. He allowed three runs over five innings. Gallant struck out three, walked one and gave up six hits.

Chris Holcomb ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs (4 earned) in 6 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out nine.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first. A double by Merrill, plating Noah Grevelis started the inning off. The scoreboard lit up again for Nauset when Merrill scored on a fielder's choice and scored on an error.

Dennis-Yarmouth brought home two runs in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the sixth, Dennis-Yarmouth HS scored on an RBI single by Sumner, bringing home Scruggs.
