Nauset seizes victory thanks to late single, drop Dennis-Yarmouth HS 8-6

Nauset outlasted Dennis-Yarmouth HS on Friday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 8-6 win at Eldredge Field, Orleans (Home).

Nauset finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fourth inning. Nauset went up for good on a two-run single by Willy Boyd off Gleason, scoring Brennan Chisholm and Noah Grevelis.

Boyd racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Warriors.

Gerritt Merrill got the win for Nauset despite allowing six runs over seven innings. Merrill struck out 13, walked three and gave up five hits.

Gleason ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.

The bottom of the first saw Nauset take an early lead, 2-0. Nauset got things going when Noah Grevelis singled. A stolen base then moved Noah Grevelis from first to second. TJ King singled, plating Noah Grevelis and Boyd.

Dennis-Yarmouth pushed across one run in both the fourth inning and the seventh. In the fourth, Dennis-Yarmouth scored on an RBI single by Sumner, scoring Cochran.

After pushing across one run in the top of the seventh, Dennis-Yarmouth faced just a 8-6 deficit. An error triggered Dennis-Yarmouth HS' comeback. Dennis-Yarmouth's Gleason struck out to end the ballgame.
