Mike Doherty's effort not enough as Nauset falls to Barnstable High School 2-1
Nauset's Mike Doherty gave up two hits, but Nauset provided little run support, allowing Barnstable High School to steal a 2-1 win Monday at Barnstable HS.
Doherty was charged with the loss. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
Barnstable High School never trailed after scoring one run in the first on a single by Conroy.
Nauset's lone run of the ballgame came in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Harrison Field. With runners on first and third and 1 out, Sherman Merrill beat out a double play which would have tied the game. However, a runner's interference call at second base ended the game and prevented the tying run from scoring.
