The meet both began and ended with recognition for the seven seniors competing in their final home meet. Dyllon McNeil, Brian Brooks, Jeremiah Tessier, Jake Whitfield, Jackson Norris and Shun Yao received accolades and heart felt appreciation from coaches and teammate. They then proceeded to fill the time between with exciting action.
Highlighting the meet was a new school record in the 4X100M relay. Shavar Champagne, Owen Wilcox, Richard Ramsay and Dyllon McNeill set a new standard of 44.9 - one they intend to continue lowering throughout the remainder of the season. In the meet against D-Y the meet went down to the final event, where the winning performance (96’5) of Jeremiah Tessier in discus gave them the victory.
Nauset also won the 4X400M relay with the team of Bobby Freeman, Christian Augat, Chris Pombo and Nolan Ellard. Freeman also won the 400M at 54.3 and placed 2nd in the high jump. Pombo placed 2nd in the 40)M hurdles against D-=Y and won the event vs. Monomoy. Augut placed 2nd in the 400M vs. Monomoy and 3rd vs. D-Y.
Brian Brooks won with a pr in the two mile at 9:54.4. Jake Pearl set a season best 4:41.6 in winning the mile with Jake Whitfield 2nd vs. Monomoy and 3rd against D-Y. Tyreese Ferguson posted a huge PR in winning the 110M hurdles in 15.3. Matt Cahill was 2nd vs. Monomoy and 3rd vs. D-Y in that event. Cahill also won high jump vs. Monomoy and was 2nd vs. D-Y.
While it was a goodbye to the seniors it was also a great hello to freshman Aidan Handville who won the javelin vs. Monomoy (pr 121’8”) and placed 2nd in discus (95’11). Against D-Y that was good for 2nd and 3rd placements.
Nolan Ellard placed 2nd in the 800M run (pr 2:07.7) vs. both teams. Exchange student Lewin Runde placed in both javelin (113’8”) and shot put (33’3”).
The upperclassmen are off this weekend as the freshman and sophomores compete in Norwell on Saturday. Nauset’s final dual meet is against Sandwich on Tuesday.
