Nauset 85 Sandwich 50
Nauset found themselves behind by eleven points after the first 5 running events. The tide of the Nauset Fleet started to turn when Tyreese Ferguson (15.9) and Matt Cahill (16.0) placed 1-2 in the 110M hurdles. Nauset went on to outscore Sandwich 34-3 over the next five events.
Dyllon McNeill was Nauset’s only double winner (100m-11.2 and 200m-23.1) while Owen Wilcox took three second place finishes (long jump-19’1”, triple jump-36’0”, 200m-23.4) and was part of the winning 4X100M.
Nauset’s other winners on the track were Jacob Pearl (2 mile-10:13.9), and Brian Brooks (mile-4:40.7). Second places went to Chris Pombo (400M hurdles-1:05.2), and Jake Whitfield (mile). Whitfield’s mile time was his first time under 4:52, lowering his pr to 4:45.6.
Shavar Champagne (100M-11.7), Aidan Dill (800m-2:15.0) and Nolan Ellard (400m-54.5) added third places.
With a 19 point lead entering the field events the Warriors won 4 of the 6 to pull away from Sandwich. Freshman Richard Ramsay pr’d in the long jump at 19’4”. Matt Cahill (high jump-5’8”), Aidan Handville (discus-87’9”)) and Bobby Freeman (shot put - 34’1”) were the other winners. Handville (javelin-108’7) and Freeman (high jump - 5’6”) added second place finishes. Levin Runde (33’1) placed second in shot put. Sandwich grabbed all 6 third place finishes in the field events.
Nauset completed their dual meet season at 6-1 and are headed to Durfee on Saturday for the MSTCA State Coaches Invitational.
