Nauset boys opened their season edging Barnstable in a meet thay went down to the final event as Aiden Handvilles second place in the discus provided the winning margin. Matt Cahill (110MH and High Jump) and Fennigan Brown (100M, 200M) were double winners. Shavar Champagne and Richard Ramsay joined with Brown to sweep the 100. The only other individual winner on the track was Jacob Pearl in the mile. Nauset dominated the 4X100 with a team of Champagne, Bobby Freeman, Nolan Ellard and Ramsay. The 4X400 team provided one of the most exciting battles of the meet when Barnstable jumped out to a big early lead. Inspired running by senior captain Matt Cahill on the third leg brought the team into the lead and anchor leg captain Jacob Pearl put the race away. By sweeping both relays Nauset took a slim lead into the field events where they were able to win all three jumping events. Besides Chaill's high jump win, Richard Ramsay and Christian Augat added wins in the long jump and triple jump. Ramsay put the long jump competition out of reach on his first jump at 21'1" while Christian Augat came through on his final attempt to win the triple jump by just 1/2". Nauset garnered a second place in shot put by Pearl and a third in javelin by Handville setting the stage for Handville to put the team over the top in discus.
