Nauset had a very strong day at the Notre Dame Last Chance meet, posting several personal bests and gaining momentum heading into the Division 3 State Meet.
Molly Crowell took first place in the girls 400 meter, breaking a Nauset school record, with a time of 59.9 seconds. Crowell improved her previous best by almost a full second to dip under the one minute mark for the first time. Fellow Warrior Jenny Leyton took sixth at 1:02.9 and is looking strong heading into her primary event, the D3 400 meter hurdles next weekend.
In the boys mile, Jake Moore placed second and ran a personal best 4:34 while Stephen Gomez finished seventh with a personal best 4:39. Riley Wilkins (4:49) and Ryan Saunders (5:00) both also posted personal bests in their final races of the season.
Coralea Geraniotis placed fourth in the girls mile with a personal best of 5:24. Despite the pack starting the race at a clip that put them on pace for only a 5:35 mile, the freshmen continued to improve her tactics and also showed excellent fitness to close hard for her best time of the year.
In the boys 800 meter, Jake Meredith took second place with a time of 1:59.9 while Andrew Herwig took third with a personal best time of 2:00. Meredith and Herwig battled back and forth all the way to the finish line after starting the race out aggressively with a ferocious 57 second first lap.
Davis Hartnett took fifth place in the boys 400 meter with a personal best of 54.8 seconds. Chris Parkington placed sixth in the 100 meter at 12.18 seconds and Nina Putnam placed fifth in the girls 100 hurdles with a personal best of 17.07 seconds. Colby Frodel also earned a medal placing 4th in the High Jump with a height of 5' 6".
