Nauset GIrls Shine at State Meet

Nauset scored 30 points and set two school records enroute to a 6th place finish in the MIAA Division 3 Meet at North Reading.

Freshman Izzy Nobili broke her own school record in the 800M at 2:17.22. Seeded 4th coming into the race, she put together a fast start and a strong finishing kick too improve on the record she broke at the State Coaches Invitational a few weeks back.

Sophomore Kara Moore ran her fastest time of the year placing 2nd after entering the meet as a 5th place seed. Sitting in 4th place down the final straightaway she too relied on a strong kick to pass two runners over the last 30M.

Freshman Rachel Pranga ran her fastest mile of the year and placed 6th in a time of %:23.83.

Sophomore Hannah Gale ran a PR 16.48 in the semi-finals coming just .04 from the school record of 16.44 set by Neilly Rose two years ago. In the finals Gale ran 16.65 to place 7th.

Freshman Sophie Christopher also set a PR in the 400M hurdles at 1:08.40 to place 8th.

Nauset placed 2nd in the 4X800M relay with two seniors and two freshen. Madaket Nobili, Tara Ellard, Rachel Pranga and Izzy Nobili ran 9:39.67, loosing to only Tewksbury’s meet record-setting 9:35.

Nauset placed 5th and broke a school record in the 4X100M relay. Senior Elana O’Connor paired with three sophomores (Kara Moore, Rebeka Pranga, Hannah Gale) to lower the record from 51.90 to 51.17.

This is Nauset’s finest performance at this meet in many years - and given the relative youthfulness of the team the future looks bright.
