MIAA Postseason Baseball Round 1: Nauset Defeats Oliver Ames 9-0

An outstanding effort by Paul Prue hoisted Nauset to a 9-0 win in seven innings over Oliver-Ames on Thursday at Eldredge Park (Orleans).

Prue kept Oliver-Ames off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out six.

Prue lost his perfect game in the seventh inning on a single by Matt Muir.

Prue, Mike Doherty and Ronan Chisholm helped lead the Warriors. They combined for six hits and four RBIs.

Zach Sato ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

The game's last lead went to Nauset thanks to a second inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on an RBI double by  Owen Wilcox and an RBI single by Prue.

Nauset tacked on another three runs in the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Prue homered to kick things off.

Nauset built upon its lead with four runs in the sixth. A clutch error scored Mac LaBarge and Chisholm to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Doherty's two-run home run, bringing home Brennan Chisholm.
