MARSHFIELD HIGH SCHOOL: 0

The Warriors defeated ACL foe Marshfield soundly, 5-0, in a game that really sent a message to the rest of the league, The South, and the State. Junior forward James McLeod led the scoring with a hat trick, and senior forward Tyler Savonen scored his 17th and 18th goals of the season, in addition to notching an assist. Senior defender Ben Altneu assisted twice, and senior and junior midfielders, Jimmy Quigley and Jake Moore, respectively, each had one assist as well. Adding an assist was sophomore defender Hunter Maher. This was the second consecutive outstanding effort by Nauset, in a crucial ACL game that put Nauset 1 point behind Sandwich in the league for the showdown on Tuesday, the 26th at Nauset High. The Warriors received another stellar effort from freshman keeper Bruce Johnson, recording his fifth shutout, and keeping the team in the game particularly with 3 outstanding saves, lowering his Goals Against Average to exactly 1. The back 4 was rock solid, once again contributing to the shutout, with senior defenders Will Case, and Ben Altneu, junior Nick Hoffman-Klaucke, and sophomores Hunter Maher and Adam Huber all putting in great performances. It was another whole team effort from start to finish, and Nauset dominated from the first minute in, as the start to the game was very important since Nauset had played their last game on the previous Thursday, and needed to be sharp. This was very much the result that Nauset wanted, as Marshfield had incredulously come back and tied Sandwich in a game last week, and a 5-0 win over this team is definitely the confidence booster that the Warriors needed going into 2 tough last weeks of the regular season. Nauset's next game is Wednesday, October 20th, at Forges Field in Plymouth, against ACL foe Plymouth North.
