Nauset Bests Sandwich on the Track
Nauset Boys 82 – Sandwich 53
Brian Brooks, Marvin Nelson and Brandon Hooper were double winners in the victory over Sandwich. Brooks did it on the track, winning both the mile (4:55 and two mile (10:46). Nelson’s scored his ten points in jumps. In the long jump he soared 20’11” and in the high jump cleared 5’10”. Both were state-qualifying performances. Hooper won both the javelin (116’11”) and discus (88’8”).
Devin Cannistraro won the 200M (23.6)and placed 2nd in the 100M (11.6). Zavian Reynolds and Mente McMillin both placed in three events. Both were part of the winning 4X1 (47.8) with Lihan SU and Akeem Atkinson. Reynolds posted second places in both 100M Hurdles and triple jump. McMillin’s other placements were a second in the 200M and third in the triple jump.
Atkinson won the 100M at 11.4. The Nauset squad of Jacob Pearl, Andre Bois, Jake Whitfield and Dylan McDonough won the 4X400 in a time of 3:58.6.

Nauset Girls 84 – Sandwich 52
Madaket Nobili, Neilly Rose and Ellie Hartmann were double winners against Sandwich. Nobili won both the 400M (61.9 – state qualifier) and the mile (5:47.6) Rose took the 100M hurdles (18.0) and long jump (14’10”). Rose ended up placing in four events. She added a third place finish in the triple jump at 29’7” and was part of the winning 4X400M relay.
Rose was joined in that relay by Tara Ellard, Olivia Bois and Callie Schadt. Ellard was also the winner of the two-mile (12:21).
Hartmann’s wins qualified for states in both the 100M (13.0) and 200M (27.1).
Nauset’s 4X100M relay team of Emma Shackelford, Caroline Sullivan, Alena O’Connor and Taylor Fleming won in a time of 54.8. Shackelford won the javelin and placed third in the 200M. O’Connor placed 2nd in the 200M while Sullivan placed 2nd in both the long jump and triple jump.
Nauset’s record is now 2-1.
Meet 1 vs. D-Y and Barnstable

Girls Track
Nauset split contests, losing to Dennis-Yarmouth 87-49 and beating Barnstable 92-42. In the D-Y match the Warriors led coming out of the running 47-35 but were no match for the strength of the Dolphin’s field events.
In the D-Y meet, Tara Ellard (2-mile-12:37), Madaket Nobili (800M-2:31.6), and Neilly Rose (100M Hurdles-17.8) all won their events plus were part of winning relay teams. Ellie Hartmann won the 200M (28.1) and placed second in the 100M (13.3). Senior Captain Callie Schadt won the mile (5:42).
Against Barnstable Nauset also added wins by Alena O’Connor in the 400M (64.9), Caroline Sullivan in the long jump (13’5”), a tie for 1st in the high jump by Taylor Fleming and Nora Lucy (4’0”) , and a double win in the discus (70’4) and shot put (26’8) by Isabel Hanson.
In each meet Nauset won both relays. In the 4X100M the team of Emma Shackleford, Caroline Sullivan, Alena O’Connor and Sarah Chace ran 55.4. In the 4X400M Tara Ellard, Olivia Bois, Neilly Rose and Madaket Nobili ran 4:33.
Boys Track
Nauset boys started their season with wins against Barnstable (72-64) and Dennis-Yarmouth (87-49). Double winners for Nauset were Akeem Atkinson in the 200M (24.3) and triple jump (36’11) , and Marvin Nelson in the high jump (5’8”) and long jump (18’9).
Nauset also won both relays. The 4X400M team of Andre Bois, Jacob Eldridge, Dylan McDonough and Brian Brooks ran 3:51.33. Brooks also added a win in the 800M at 2:04.42. The 4X100M team of Tom Shannahan, Lihan SU, Mente Kerse-McMillin and Devin Cannistraro ran 48.25, Cannistraro coming from behind on the final leg to post the win.
Frosh Will Van Vleck won the 400MH against both teams with a time of 64.2.
